Rick Riordan
RIck Riordan, an American author, is most commonly known for writing the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Many of his books focus on mythology. The Lightning Thief , the first book of the Percy Jackson series, was published in 2005, and was adapted into a film in 2010. He also wrote a series focusing on Egyptian mythology, The Kane Chronicles. The Heroes of Olympus series took place after the end of the Percy Jackson series.
Riordan was born on June 5, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas. His two sons inspired him to write the Percy Jackson series. As a child, he was influenced by the Lord of the Rings books, and was very interested in Greek and Norse mythology. His family was very artistic, and he began writing in middle school. After being a teacher for many years, he decided to become a full-time writer.
